This ongoing report shows the status of Milestones and Special Citations in the various stages of the process, updated frequently by IEEE History Center staff. Milestones and Special Citations are listed with their docket numbers. The IEEE Region and the sponsoring organizational unit are shown in parentheses. Please note the titles given here are shortened or working titles, not the full or official titles. While in the approval process, proposals have a History Committee advocate assigned to them (initials used to protect confidentiality).

Advocates must be either current IEEE History Committee members, past IEEE History Committee members, or past proposers or expert reviewers of successful milestone proposals. In March 2024, the History Committee voted that past proposers and expert reviewers of successfully-dedicated Milestone proposals are also eligible to serve as milestones advocates, subject both to having completed proposer/advocate training, and receiving Milestones Subcommittee Chair’s approval. B. STATUS

In the case of inactive Proposals, i.e. proposals which are incomplete or have had no new material added to them for a period of a year, the advocate will email the proposer(s) to advise that the proposal will be deleted from the Milestones Status Report unless there is activity within the next month.

C. UNDER ADVOCATE AND/OR INDEPENDENT EXPERT REVIEW
C.1. PROPOSALS SUBMITTED AND AWAITING ADVOCATE DECISION
Advocates shall complete the review of milestone proposals within six months of submission of the proposal, except in cases where an unusual circumstance or major obstacle arises. Within 2 months, advocate works with proposers to select independent expert reviewers and to make sure all materials submitted are complete; within 4 months, advocate receives expert reviews; within 6 months, advocate completes review and recommends History Committee action.
Advocates are responsible for following up with the reviewer to ensure reviews received on schedule when reviews have been received.
Proposals whose reviews or advocate decision are overdue will show their docket numbers in red.
